Stunt Driving charges in a Community Safety Zone
On the 22nd of January at 11:00am, an officer was monitoring the speed of traffic in the Community Safety Zone on Harmony Rd. A vehicle was observed travelling at 82km/h in a posted 40km/h Community Safety Zone. As a result, a 49-year-old driver was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed. The driver was issued a summons for a traffic court date, their driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Later in the day, at 3:08pm, police were continuing to monitor the speed of traffic on Harmony Rd in the Community Safety Zone when an officer observed a vehicle travelling at 85km/h in a posted 40km/h Community Safety Zone. As a result, a 48-year-old driver was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed. The driver was issued a summons for a traffic court date, their driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Suspended Driver
On the 22nd of January, at 4:35pm, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on Bell Blvd. The officer learned that the 52-year-old male’s drivers licence was suspended under the Highway Traffic Act. Following an investigation, the driver was charged with driving while suspended, using plates not authorized, failing to apply for a permit and fail to surrender proof of insurance. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and the driver was issued a summons for a traffic court date.
